Rock Castle Home
NR | 57 mins | Movie
Rock Castle Home delves deep into the history of a 1930s Virginia mountain community displaced by the Blue Ridge Parkway. Told through the words of community members working to preserve their history and identity, Rock Castle Home tells a universal story about the human fight to preserve our stories despite the political, economic, and natural forces that seek to subsume them.

The event will feature a performance by Ashlee Watkins and Andrew Small, composers and performers featured in the film.

Film will be followed by a Q&A with:

Beverly Woody - local journalist, public school teacher, organizer of the Rock Castle descendants, and public historian, traces her ancestry in Rock Castle back some 200 years. She is one of the main narrators in Rock Castle Home.

Leslie Shelor - local historian, local hiking guide, author, podcaster, and co-author of Rock Castle: a special history study for the Blue Ridge Parkway. She is also a key narrator for Rock Castle Home.
