The Center for Rural Education at Virginia Tech presents: Tipping the Pain Scale
2021 | 105 min | Special Event
"Tipping the Pain Scale" is an award-winning feature documentary film capturing the hopeful story of six remarkable Americans – including an NFL star and White House cabinet member — demonstrating how we can change for good, and begin healing our communities, one person at a time. It is an immersive experience changing how Americans view our country’s substance use failures and highlighting a path toward hope and healing.

It is a character-driven story that examines the old, broken narrative around addiction, trauma, mental health - and highlights a new, compassion-based path forward inspiring change and transforming communities.

“Stigma and judgment are keeping people with the disease of addiction from getting the help they need. This, in my opinion, is killing more people than overdoses.” -Jerome Adams, former U.S. Surgeon General.
